Where did you grow up?:
I was a military brat and lived in a lot of wonderful places, but I claim San Antonio as the place where I finally put down my roots.

My husband of 35 years, Kevin, and I live with our 2 Alaskan malamute rescues, Dakotah and Tundra, in a home we purchased in 1979. More about you - details
Describe some of the important experiences of your life:
The day I discovered that my dog was a wolf cross actually put me in touch with Native American roots I didn't know I had; a trip to South Dakota had life-altering ramifications; the first article I ever had published; the sexual abuse of my daughter by a neighbor taught me invaluable lessons about the underbelly of society, and the day I gave my first speech about the sexual abuse of children in this country.
What's your biggest regret?:
That I allowed society to dictate to me what a woman should or should not do, and that I didn't begin to live my life the way I wanted to until I was older.
List your most inspiring heroes.:
Helen Keller, Crazy Horse, Leon Uris and Ann Rule.
List your favorite movies.:
Dances with Wolves, Last of the Dogmen, Gone with the Wind, Thunder Heart
List the most recent books you have read.:
Pride and Prejudice, Fiction is Folks, and The Stranger Beside Me
Who are your favorite musicians?:
Mike Clancey (a local San Antonio performer), Alan Jackson, Celtic Thunder
Where would you most like to travel?:
Alaska, Montana, Canada, up the eastern seaboard in the fall, and to all Civil War historical sites
What is your educational background?:
2 years at Sam Houston State University; many correspondence courses on a variety of subjects that have interested me over the years
List the most interesting people you have known or met.:
Leon Uris (author), Jeanette Longoria (socialite/celebrity), Steve Wentworth (publisher), Terry Burns (literary agent)
What organizations do you belong to?:
San Antonio Conservation Society, San Antonio Writers Guild, AARP, North American Wolf Association, Humane Society, The Delta Society
If you had an extra $100,000 to give away, what would you do?:
I would try to use it constructively on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation to encourage residents there to further educate themselves, to build businesses other than simply casinos, and to try to eliminate the alcohol/drug/gang problems among their people. The Pine Ridge Reservation is a Third World country in our own back yard, but it doesn't need money 'given' to it. The reservation needs money to be invested.
