Writers' Guidelines
Thanks for your interest in writing for ELDR. We’re always looking for talented writers, and we welcome your story ideas. Please follow these steps when submitting a query:
Get to know us. ELDR is a brand-new magazine and website aimed at affluent men and women age 60 and older. We seek to promote a healthy, active, and productive lifestyle. Our topics include elder politics, environmental concerns, medical breakthroughs, nutrition, fitness, lifestyle, travel, entertainment, and technology. Please spend some time on eldr.com and become familiar with our range of stories and our point of view.
Think, Why ELDR? Why is your story right for ELDR and not some other publication for older readers? Is it positive and upbeat? Edgy or provocative? Does it speak to an upscale audience? How does it challenge the current perceptions of aging? Making sure you’ve answered these questions will help sell your story.
Use email. Send queries to:
Dave Bunnell
Editor-in-Chief
or
Laurie Herr
Managing Editor
What to include: Your story pitch should include the topic and how you’d like to approach it, why it’s right for ELDR (see above), proposed length, and the section of the magazine it best fits. Do NOT attach the story manuscript with your pitch.
Also, tell us briefly about your writing background, including a list of where you’ve been published and, if possible, URLS with samples of your work.
It may take a few weeks before you hear from us, but please be patient. We’ll be in touch if we decide to pursue your story.
Pay: Our pay rate varies depending upon the scope of the assignment.
Rights: We buy first-time rights for use in print and online.
