I have always been a bit hesitant about recommending too much soy. Food processing depletes many of its benefits, and too much soy can interfere with thyroid medication in some people. But soy nuts are a different story. A recent study in a prestigious medical journal found that eating soy nuts in place of a serving of regular protein (about 25g) helped some people lower bad cholesterol and blood pressure (when eaten as part of a heart healthy diet and lifestyle). So go nuts for soy—just watch your portion sizes. While soy nuts are slightly lower in calories than regular nuts, they can still add up quickly so put ¼ cup in a baggie to keep portions in check.
