Dolfi Kaln, 65, manhandled his opponents in one of his several volleyball matches today. The towering Iowan and his fellow "Lake Greats," a 65-69 Men's team, bullied their shorter opponents.
The Lake Greats finished with an 8-4 record and is in the medal rounds. If Kaln and company win two more matches tomorrow, they'll be playing for gold. Chances of that happening are pretty good, considering the team had more kills than most of its opponents. Plus, there's a unique chemistry amongst them.
"We just gel together," Kaln says. "We don't argue, and I've played with a lot of teams that are always bickering."
The last day of the Senior Games kicks off tomorrow morning. Only Shuffleboard and Volleyball will be played.
Yesterday, the "Texas Ladybugs" took the gold in the women's 60+ age group in volleyball, and the "PA" 60+ won the gold in the men's category.
